What gets a defect notice
The most common service side items on Ausgrid and Endeavour Energy defect notices:
- Aged or undersized service mains or consumer mains
- A damaged point of attachment
- A private pole that is damaged, rusted or deteriorating
- Crossarms on private poles that are damaged or no longer comply
- UV damage to overhead service mains
- Vegetation too close to the service line

How long do I have to clear a defect notice?
The deadline is printed on the notice and depends on the category the network has assigned. Forward it and we confirm your timeframe in writing and book the work within it.
Can any electrician clear a defect notice?
Only one accredited for Level 2 ASP work and the network compliance paperwork. Thorntek holds ASP 4869 across all four Level 2 classes and completes the entire job.
What does it cost to clear a defect notice?
It depends on what the notice lists; a point of attachment repair differs from replacing service mains. Send us the whole notice for a fixed quote.
What is an electrical defect notice?
