The job

Thorntek handled the supply side and the lighting end to end: two custom stainless steel switchboards built to stand up to a public park, the underground reticulation, and the staged pole and luminaire installation across the BBQ areas, pathways and courts.

Stainless steel was chosen for the boards because they live outdoors in a public space and have to last. Each board carries its own metering, surge protection and lighting control, so the reserve's lighting runs on a timeclock and daylight sensor without anyone having to flick a switch.

Thorntek returned in 2026 to light the netball courts: six new 12 metre poles carrying new floodlights, installed and commissioned for night play.
